Government Official Confirms Ministry of Defence Looking at Security Risk from Vehicles from China, as Staff Instructed to Avoid Secret Talk in Vehicles.

A defense official has confirmed that the MoD is actively investigating the possible threats associated with Chinese vehicles, and staff have been told to avoid talking about classified information in any vehicles.

Security Guidance for Defence Personnel

During a recent appearance on a radio station, a defence minister addressed claims that Ministry of Defence officials have been told not to discuss secret information while riding in China-made vehicles.

He stated that the ministry is “examining” Chinese vehicles within its vehicle pools, however noted that safety is a issue in all modern vehicles.

We have a fleet of tens of thousands of vehicles in the Ministry of Defence and those vehicles represent a tiny fraction.
But regardless of if you’re traveling in a vehicle from China or a car from another country, what we’ve asked our people is not to plug MoD devices into their vehicle, not to have discussions at a classified level in any car, due to the increasing threats of eavesdropping that exist in all vehicle, to only have those confidential talks in secure locations. That’s a prudent and sensible thing for everyone concerned about security.

After it was suggested that it would be wise for the ministry to cease using all Chinese vehicles, Pollard responded: ‘That’s precisely what we’re investigating at the moment.”

Broader Security Background

The announcement comes as claims from Norway and Denmark have alerted the UK to the existence of multi-purpose shutdown mechanisms in Chinese electric buses, which could allow the Chinese government to disable buses and cause chaos to public transit.

Additionally, a Russian spy ship has been shining laser beams at RAF aircrew, labeled a “extremely risky” action by defence officials.

This broader security situation underscores the significance of strong protocols and caution in all areas of official activities, from transport use to communication habits.
